INTRO OF ATP

AMRITSAR TOURISM POLICE (ATP)

Amritsar is an important tourist destination and also a transit point wherefrom international and national tourist make future journey to various other tourist places. tourist at times face several problems related to transport, accommodation, getting tourism related information and many times they fall victim to cheats and touts losing their belongings and valuables. To help tourists, the tourist Police of the Amritsar Police shall be deployed at following ten important places/locations:

1. Raja Sansi Airport

2. Amritsar Railway Station

3. Amritsar Bus Terminal

4. Golden Temple

5. Jallianwalla Bagh

6. Durgiana Mandir

7. Mata Da mandir- Model town

8. Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama

9. Shivala Bagh Bhaiyan

10. Wagah Border

Objective:

1. To avoid harassment to the tourist by touts.

2. To help tourist in getting transport and lodging at appropriate rate and without much hassle at Railway Station, Airports Bus Terminals, important tourist places, malls etc.

3. Safety and security against cheats and bag lifters etc. at these places.

4. Containing crime like pick pocketing . eve-teasing, molestation, drugging etc.

5. Providing information related to the City of Amritsar and other adjoining tourist places.

Duties:

1. To guide the tourist about the location of tourist places, distance and available transport to reach desired destination.

2. To help tourist in procuring tickets for museums, resorts, transports, movies and also to protect them from touts and black marketers.

3. To ensure that no peddlers, jewelers. shopkeepers, touts, cheats and beggars etc. harass them.

4. To help tourists in solving their problems as also facilitating them during stay in the city.

5. To guide tourists about local of Art and Culture, Emporia's Book Stalls, Banks PCOs etc.

6. To guide tourists on local conditions of law and order, security and hazards and places of medical help.

7. To guide the tourists on matters relating to passport, visas, residential permits exchange of currency and on immigration issues.

8. To guide local custom and traditions.

Amritsar Tourism Police Booths/Points earmarked in the first phase are:-

1. Bus Stand

2. Railway Station

3. Golden Temple

4. Raja Sansi Airport

5. Wagah Border

Force deployed will be as:-

1. Bus Stand 2 shifts of 3 ORs

2. Railway Station 2 shifts of 3 ORs

3. Golden Temple 2 shifts of 3 ORs

4. Raja Sansi 2 shifts of 3 ORs

5. Attari Border 1 shifts of 3 ORs

SUPERVISION:-

1. SHOs of the said points will be supervisory officers

2. Overall supervisory GO will be DySP Traffic

3. Nodal Officer will be SP HQ

4. Nodal Head will be his W/SSP of Asr.

5. In charge of Tourism wing will be an officer of Insp. Rank.

MUSTS FOR EVERY ATP POINT:-

1. All the points will have lists of emergency numbers like police control room,crime stoppers, ambulance, govt, hospital, emergency doctors phone numbers etc.

2. The lists of authorized taxi stands, money exchanges, guest houses, hotels restaurants, sarais and dharamshallas etc.

3. The phone numbers of information office at Golden Temple, Receptions or enquiry offices at Railway station Bus stand , Airport, Punjab tourism office.

4. Every police officer posted at such points should have knowledge about important tourist destinations and know how of Amritsar roads etc.

5. Every point should have a first aid kit, police personnel posted at such points should be trained to give emergency first aid.
